This dining experience was certainly something quite different for me.
My Sicilian cousins took me to Fattoria Borrello - Osteria del Maiale Nero near the town of Raccuja. What was different about this experience was that I allowed my cousins to do the ordering and I had no idea what was coming to our table. The friendly waiter did practise his English skills on us and explained what each dish was but I was so intent on eating I really didn’t listen.
Every single dish was delicious. I particularly enjoyed the egg n sausage fry, arancini, panelle, fresh ricotta, cold meat cuts and the barbecued meat platter.
The flavours were intensely fresh.
The restaurant soon filled with people and the food was flowing in all directions. I could sense that there was joy in the air - a celebration of great flavours and the joy that comes with this experience.
I’ll certainly remember this meal.

Seeing we aren't locals, chef Alessandro took care of us personally. There was no need for an English menu, because he translated and explained everything for us. He made sure we felt right at home and was extremely hospitable. Every dish was a "Ratatouille" moment and was so satisfying. The Borello family also made sure we were well attended to. Unbelievable place!
The best in Sicily from the beggining till the end plus the location is superb
In the middle of nowhere up on the mountainside! 33 km from Capo d'Orlando by car. Definitely a haven for meat lovers. Pleasant atmosphere and very friendly waiter.

I'm sorry not to give 5 stars because the quality of the food deserves them all. But one less star should be given for the wait for each dish. Almost an hour passed between one course and another. Service could definitely be improved... even if the staff was very kind. Looking at the other tables too, the waiting times were long, very long for everyone...it's a shame. excellent prices
